GO
Go is one of the oldest board games in the world, played for over 2,500 years. Two players take turns placing black and white stones on the intersections of a grid, aiming to surround more territory than their opponent.
How to play:
- Black plays first, then players alternate turns.
- Place stones on empty intersections of the board.
- A stone or group is captured when it has no empty adjacent intersections (liberties) left.
- You cannot play a move that would leave your own group without liberties, unless it captures.
- >span class="">ko rule prevents repeating the same board position endlessly.
- Pass your turn anytime. Two consecutive passes end the game.
Winning: Count your territory (empty intersections surrounded by your stones) plus captured stones. The player with the higher score wins.
Features:
- Standard 19×19 board (plus 9×9 and 13×13 for quick games)
- Local or online multiplayer
- Simple, clean interface
- Rules enforcement (captures, ko, suicide)
- Score estimation at the end of the game
Tips for beginners: Start on a 9×9 board, focus on corners first, then sides, then the center. Don't chase your opponent everywhere — build solid groups and claim territory.
Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned player, Go offers endless depth with just a few simple rules.
